Establish fundamental concepts required for safe, code-compliant design and installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems, with a focus on residential-sized grid-direct solar electric systems.

- Teacher: Marshall Brunson (Instructor)
- Teacher: Thomas Honey (Instructor)
- Teacher: Kristopher Sutton (Instructor)
This online course will build upon the core concepts from PV 101 and continue to emphasize grid-direct systems. The course will focus significantly on the National Electrical Code (NEC), including grid interface calculations, grounding considerations, and advanced component specification. Students will learn to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions. Commercial system design elements, such as inter-row shading, inverter selection, and data monitoring solutions will also be covered.
- Teacher: Kienan Maxfield (Instructor)

PVOL350: PV Systems - Tools & Techniques for O&M Online
The course focuses on grid-direct PV system operations and maintenance (O&M), with an emphasis on tools and techniques used to perform O&M tasks, how to perform tests safely and properly, and how to interpret the results. Steps for on-site testing and performance verification will be covered, along with tools and procedures for troubleshooting – including insulation resistance testers, I-V curve tracers, thermal imaging cameras, and more.
The goal is to provide technicians and asset managers with the knowledge to safely keep PV systems properly maintained and producing power for years to come. Welcome to PVOL350!
